Marcus Jones MP has welcomed the announcement from Government that the Nuneaton Academy is to receive almost £10m towards improving the Radnor Drive educational facility.
Since July the MP for Nuneaton has been lobbying Government Ministers to allocate capital funding for the Nuneaton Academy and held lengthy talks with Lord Hill, the Government Minister responsible. Marcus remained “cautiously hopeful” that funding would eventually be given.
Commenting on the funding news, Marcus said: “We all know the action taken by Government to reduce the public deficit but this allocation of £9.9m is fantastic news for Nuneaton and the academy in particular.
“I think this investment confirms the Government’s commitment to the Academies Programme and the importance of driving this forward in a period of financial constraint. I am delighted that the Academy can now press ahead with its plans that will greatly help in improving the education of many youngsters in the town.”
