The announcement by bosses of Orchard Care Homes that it is to take over the ownership of Harmony House has been welcomed by the town’s Member of Parliament, Marcus Jones. The move brings to an end months of uncertainty for residents and staff.
Harmony House, previously owned by Southern Cross, is a 57 bed residential care home based in Chilvers Coton. Its future was unknown with the collapse of Southern Cross, but Orchard Care Homes have stepped in following a takeover.
During the uncertainty, Marcus Jones, the MP for Nuneaton, raised his concerns about the future of the home and its residents with the Government’s Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley.
Commenting on the news, Marcus said: “This is magnificent news for the local community, the staff who work at Harmony House and most of all for Harmony’s residents. It brings to an end a great deal of anxiety, worry and stress.
“I pay tribute to the way Harmony House staff have conducted themselves throughout the last few months, in continuing to provide high quality care to their residents during a time of significant uncertainty.”
