Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones questioned Health Secretary Andrew Lansley in the House of Commons, yesterday, over the plight of residents at Harmony House in Nuneaton.
Marcus sought assurance from Mr Lansley that the residents of Harmony House, based in the Bull Ring in Nuneaton, and owned by the stricken care group Southern Cross would not be left without the care that they needed, should the company fail.
Responding, the Health Secretary explained that he did not know how the commercial discussions with Southern Cross would turn out, however he assured MPs that contingency plans had been put in place with directors of social services in local authorities to protect residents if required.
Marcus concerned that residents and families at Harmony House needed reassurance said,
“The issue of Southern Cross has rumbled on for several weeks now – I was keen to make sure that government had plans in place should Southern Cross have further difficulties. I was pleased that the Secretary of State was able to reassure the residents at Harmony House and their families - who have faced a very uncertain time of late.”
