Marcus Jones has backed in Parliament the maternity work being performed at Nuneaton’s George Eliot Hospital and has congratulated the Hospital’s new Chief Executive and his staff on the mainstreaming of alternative therapies for new mothers.
During the last six years alternative therapies such as aromatherapy have been effective in assisting with childbirth and both ante and postnatal care in Nuneaton.
Commenting on his support for maternity services at the Hospital, Marcus said: “The George Eliot Hospital has done fantastic work in providing alternative therapies which are appreciated by expectant and new mothers. Clinical staff have been able to put more into supporting mothers going through a difficult birth and that is vitally important.
“The most significant issue, however, is the feedback patients give to the Hospital which is largely positive. There are good patient outcomes and many patients have a positive experience in the hospital.
“I know the services are greatly appreciated by residents in Nuneaton and wider afield and I have urged the Government to look at this aspect of George Eliot’s maternity service as a model of good practice for hospitals throughout the country.”
