This morning I delivered my nomination papers to the Returning Officer.

It has been an honour and a privilege to represent the people of Nuneaton, Arley and Hartshill since 2010 and I am proud to have been unanimously reselected to be the Conservative candidate at this General Election.

Since 2010 unemployment in the constituency has reduced by over 60%; more than 41,000 people now pay on average £1,000 less in income tax; and, in that time, the state pension has also increased by £1,200.

I am not complacent and want to see our town centre improve, attract more businesses and create new jobs. This will be helped by the recent reduction in business rates and the £7.5 million that the Government are investing in the town centre. I will work with Conservative Colleagues on Warwickshire County Council to deliver these improvements. I also want to see better roads; more school and GP places to accommodate the burden created by the failed and inappropriate planning policy of the local Labour Council, and I want to see a secure future for our local George Eliot Hospital.

Over the last two years, as a Government Minister, I have been proud to lead on the crucial Homelessness Reduction Act, which will be implemented over the coming months.

This General Election is about credibility. It’s about whether you want strong and stable leadership in the national interest, something that only Theresa May and the Conservatives can deliver; or the weak, ineffective coalition of chaos offered by Jeremy Corbyn and his divided Party propped up by the SNP and the Liberal Democrats.

We need to give Theresa May a strong mandate as we go into critical Brexit negotiations and I hope that the people of Nuneaton, Arley and Hartshill will, by supporting me on 8th June, give the Prime Minister that strong hand at the negotiating table.
