Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has today welcomed the decision by the Chancellor George Osborne MP to freeze Council Tax for the third year in a row.
The announcement made on the first day of the Conservative Party Conference means that local Councils will be incentivised to freeze Council Tax for the third year running.
Marcus, who is all too aware of the squeeze on people’s living standards over the last five years, believes that this announcement will be a welcome relief to Nuneaton’s Council taxpayers.
The former Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said: “This is a welcome relief for hard working people and senior citizens in Nuneaton who should again see no increase in Council Tax this year. This is in stark contrast to the days of the previous Labour Government under which Council Tax doubled and when Labour Councillors at the Town Hall in Nuneaton increased Council Tax by over 9% on at least two occasions.”
