Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has added his support to the ‘Love Your Local Market Campaign’ by signing an Early Day Motion in Parliament.

The motion urges MPs to support their local market. Marcus, who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Town Centres, has backed the campaign.

Commenting, Marcus said: “Many markets are at the heart of their towns and communities and will play a central and integral part in regenerating high streets and town centres. There are some 662 markets throughout the country that have registered to take part in the Love Your Market Campaign, with 3,500 exciting events planned including shopping, specialist and handmade markets, cultural, musical and culinary events.

“It is absolutely vital that we recognise the important social role markets play in their communities. Here in Nuneaton we are fortunate to have a thriving market that attracts many people from inside and outside the town, however we cannot be complacent, and I would urge local people to continue to support our local market.”
