I was delighted to look around the new £5.1m Therapeutic Community, The Forge, which is set to provide homes for looked after children in Nuneaton.  I was accompanied on this visit by Cllr Margaret Bell, Portfolio Holder for Health & Adult Social Care for Warwickshire County Council.

Construction of The Forge is nearing completion and will offer a trauma informed, clinically led and purpose designed environment for up to 24 children.

The North Warwickshire based scheme will care for children recovering from the impact of early lived adverse childhood experiences, trauma and abuse.

The scheme is creating around 80 new jobs in area and shortly, Forge Care will be recruiting for a variety of exciting roles and opportunities to positively contribute to the lived experience of children and are hopeful that local families will also become part of the Forge family.

I toured the communities’ buildings and outside areas to get an early look at what the ground-breaking scheme is set to provide when it eventually opens its doors.

“This is a welcome investment that will provide a high-quality care facility for some of our most vulnerable young people, together with creating a significant number of jobs for the local area. It’s a fantastic environment, which has been some time in the planning with Forge working with the local community to get to this point. I wish Forge every success in meeting the needs of young people and supporting their positive development.”

Gavin Miller, Director of Forge Care said “We are so proud of what we have achieved here already, to see these homes now taking shape after years of planning is truly amazing! We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome children into these brand-new homes”
