Households across Nuneaton will benefit from a real terms cut in their council tax bills, official Government figures have revealed. This is thanks to the third year of the Conservative’s council tax freeze initiative, which offers funding to help local authorities keep council tax down.
Under the last Labour Government council tax in Nuneaton soared 106 per cent, increasing from £746 to £1533.
However, with Conservatives in Government, there has only been a change of 0.4 per cent in council tax in Nuneaton keeping it below inflation and delivering a tax cut to provide families and pensioners with real help with the cost of living.
Commenting, Marcus said: “These new figures show how the Conservatives want to help families who work hard and want to get on in life. Under the last Labour Government, council tax was allowed to soar by 106 per cent here in Nuneaton. This hit families and pensioners hardest, but the Labour Party still refuse to support our council tax freeze.
“By contrast, Conservatives understand that families need real help with the cost of living during these tough times. The third year of our freeze means that council tax in Nuneaton has remained below inflation – delivering a tax cut for local people.”
