Nuneaton’s Conservative MP Marcus Jones has welcomed an announcement by the Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, that will see more money pumped into the health service in Warwickshire.
Nationally, it means that total investment in local NHS services for 2012-13 will increase by £2.5bn. Locally, Warwickshire PCT will receive revenue allocations of £852m for 2012-13, an increase of £23.2m.
Commenting on the increased funding, Marcus said: “This is good news for the NHS and particularly for Warwickshire, which should benefit the people of Nuneaton. The increased funding of £23.2m will certainly be welcomed and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to increase funding to the NHS during this Parliament.
“The funding will also help primary dental care, pharmaceutical services, general ophthalmic services and support for joint working between health and social care, which is an issue I have tried to support constituents with on a number of occasions so this extra funding is vital and very welcome.”
