Today the Government has announced that schools in some of the least fairly funded local areas in the country will benefit from a £390 million cash boost in the biggest step towards fairer schools funding in a decade. The schools budget in Warwickshire will increase by £15.4m making a real difference to children in Nuneaton.
The Nuneaton MP has been campaigning in Parliament for a fairer funding deal for Nuneaton children, and he is delighted that Schools in Nuneaton will see their per pupil funding increase by 5.5% or £223 Per Pupil.
Commenting, Marcus Jones MP said:
“Children in Nuneaton deserve the very best schools so they can gain the skills they need to get on in life. Labour failed to address the unfairness in our funding system which meant that our local schools haven’t received the funding they deserved.
“That’s why I welcome this cash boost. It means our schools will get the resources they are entitled to and will help improve the quality of education for all children in Nuneaton.
“This new money is part of our long-term economic plan to help all young people to have the best schools and skills so that they can succeed in life”.
