Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has welcomed an announcement from ‘Big Local’ that it is to invest £1m into Arley and Ansley.
Big Local is a ground breaking, long-term programme to achieve lasting change in 150 small areas across England funded by a £200m endowment from the Big Lottery Fund. The villages of Arley and Ansley in the Nuneaton constituency are set to benefit.
It encourages people to work together locally to create a shared vision for their community and plan how to use the £1 million funding to make their area an even better place to live.
Commenting on the investment, Marcus said: “This is fantastic news for Arley and Ansley. In this area there is often the feeling of ‘always the bridesmaid never the bride’ where funding has been involved.
“The funding for Arley and Ansley (The Leys) comes from the Big Local programme and is absolutely fantastic news for the local community. Each Big Local area will receive at least £1m Lottery funding to spend over the next 10 years, enabling residents to identify priorities that matter to them and take positive action to better their communities.
“This is a great opportunity for Arley and Ansley and I wish the communities well with their projects. This latest announcement, together with the £1 million investment in Hill Top, shows that the Big Lottery are really supporting Nuneaton.”
