Today local MP Marcus Jones has welcomed the Government’s support for female entrepreneurs in the rural areas of the Nuneaton constituency.
Coventry and Warwickshire has been chosen as one five areas to receive £2 million from the Government to establish a Rural Growth Network. The Networks are intended to help female entrepreneurs in remote areas.
Details of the scheme were announced as the Home Secretary revealed almost 5,000 female mentors have joined the Government’s drive to kick-start growth. The mentors who have signed up will encourage more women to start or build their own companies.
Commenting, Marcus said: “It is great news that the Government is announcing this support for women who run businesses here in Nuneaton. Labour left a legacy where less than a third of all entrepreneurs were women. Today’s measures are part of the Government’s strategy to support women in business.”
Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, Theresa May MP said: “Women are vital to Britain’s economic future and the support of a mentor will help even more of them fulfil their true potential.”
