Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has been briefed in Parliament by Age Concern Warwickshire about the work that they do in the county.

Chief Executive Elizabeth Phillips, Chairman Mike Stevens and Treasurer Chris Long-Leather travelled to Westminster to meet with Warwickshire MPs to discuss the services they provide to older people in Warwickshire.

Age Concern Warwickshire has 483 volunteers across the county supporting older people.  In addition, the organisation offers a wide range of services to older people – including ‘Care & Repair’ Home Improvement, Home Safety Checks, gardening, respite care and the ‘HandyFix.It’ handyperson programme.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr Jones said: “I see championing our local voluntary sector as one of the key aspects of my role as the new Member of Parliament, and I look forward to working with Age Concern Warwickshire to ensure that older residents get the support and services they need.”

Chief Executive Elizabeth Phillips said: “There are a number of challenges facing older people in Warwickshire, and it is vital that we all work together as closely as possible in the county to make sure we are able to give the best and most effective service possible to older residents.”
