Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has secured a meeting with the Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond, to discuss proposals to build a new train station at the Ricoh Arena on the Coventry to Nuneaton line.
Marcus made his representations about the project during questions to the Transport Secretary on October 26 stating that the rail upgrade would be extremely important in opening up further job opportunities for people living in Nuneaton, many of whom depend on Coventry for their employment.
The Transport Secretary agreed to his request for a meeting to discuss the vital scheme, which had been plagued by delays by the previous Government.
Commenting on the meeting, Marcus said: “The Knuckle project is an absolutely vital scheme for Nuneaton as many of my constituents rely on Coventry for their employment. The new station would significantly help the economy of the sub-region to help create new job opportunities.
“The meeting will include my parliamentary colleague Dan Byles as well as the Members of Parliament for Coventry. I will also be inviting senior officials from Warwickshire County Council to join me in London for the meeting.”
