Nuneaton’s MP Marcus Jones has met with a team of apprentices at Triton Showers to show his support for businesses investing in young people.
During a visit to Triton Showers, the town’s MP met with young apprentices and trainees and had a meeting with the firm’s Managing Director, Lorna Fellowes.
The Government has created 1.8 million apprenticeships since 2010 and want to go even further. As part of its long-term economic plan, Conservatives will deliver three million more apprenticeships by the end of the next Parliament and abolish long-term youth unemployment – so all young people have the opportunity to get on in life.
Commenting on his visit to Triton, Marcus said: “The Prime Minister has made it absolutely clear that apprenticeships are a vital part of our long-term economic plan, and we want to deliver an additional 3 million apprenticeships by the end of the next Parliament. To make that happen, we need businesses like Triton Showers here in Nuneaton to invest in young people, and that is what Lorna and Triton is doing.
“The apprentices and trainees I met were enthusiastic and they are learning key skills that will equip them with the ability to develop a lasting career, either at Triton or in another industry. Apprenticeships are a perfectly sensible alternative to higher education for many local people, and I’d encourage any businesses yet to realise the potential of apprenticeships to find out more.”
The Managing Director of Triton Showers, Lorna Fellowes, said: “Marcus has been hugely supportive of Triton in all aspects. An example of Marcus’ close working relationship with Triton has been introducing apprentices and getting young people back to work using Government initiatives.”
