Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has welcomed the creation of a new taskforce aimed at cutting red tape for small organisations.

The joint venture between the Cabinet Office and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will investigate and recommend measures to reduce the burden of red tape on organisations. It is a vital tool in achieving the Government’s aim to make it easier to run a charity, social enterprise or voluntary organisation.

The innovative taskforce will be chaired by Lord Hodgson who has spent his career advising and working for small and medium sized enterprises.

Commenting on the new taskforce, Nuneaton’s MP Marcus Jones said: “This taskforce has a hugely important job ahead to reduce the unnecessary burden of red tape on organisations. Red tape is estimated to cost business £86bn a year which is a phenomenal amount of money that could be better used to help create enterprise and employment opportunities.

“The work will also help voluntary organisations and charities who are too often swamped in dealing with pointless bureaucracy rather than doing the valuable work many of these organisations do.

“I am keen to hear from any business, charity or organisation that has an example to give about how bureaucracy affects them and their work. I will be happy to feed that information to the task force so that people in Nuneaton have a real say in helping the Government to cut red tape.”
