Marcus Jones, the MP for Nuneaton, and Craig Tracey, the new MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, have announced the date of their first Jobs Fair since the General Election – Friday 10 July.
Previous Jobs Fairs organised by Marcus and the former MP for North Warwickshire, Dan Byles, had over 1,000 jobs on offer to the hundreds of job seekers who attended and received positive feedback from those involved.
Following on from the successful event last year, the latest Jobs Fair is working closely with the Job Centre in Nuneaton, Bedworth and Atherstone – making it an ideal opportunity for people seeking work and for employers to meet directly with potential new recruits.
The latest Jobs Fair follows new figures showing 1,541 fewer people in Nuneaton claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance compared to 2010 - a 57 per cent drop. This means more people in work, with the security of a good job and a regular pay packet so they can provide for themselves and their families. Despite the positive figures, the local MPs are not complacent and want to see full employment in the area.
Commenting, Marcus said: “A 57 per cent drop in the number of people claiming out of work benefits is a fantastic achievement, but as I always said I am not complacent. There are still too many people who want to work who are not in work, and I am hopeful that the latest Jobs Fair will help to connect people directly with local employers or apprenticeship providers.
“Our previous Jobs Fairs shows just what can be done when businesses and public sector organisations who care about our area are brought together to support people looking for work. I was delighted with the response from the employers and was astounded at the numbers of job vacancies and opportunities that were available last time and we want to emulate that success.
Adding, North Warwickshire and Bedworth MP Craig Tracey, said: "I am pleased to be getting involved in helping to organise the latest Jobs Fairs. We want this to be as successful as it was last time, with real jobs and apprenticeships available. Jobs Fairs are an effective way to bring local jobseekers together with employers, and I know that the feedback Marcus and Dan had on the day last year was extremely positive. I’d encourage anyone interested from North Warwickshire and Bedworth to attend on the day.”
The Jobs Fair venue and time will be announced nearer the time.
