Following yesterday's High Court judgement on Parliament being asked to consider Article 50, a number of constituents have understandably contacted me to ask my position.
The country voted to leave the European Union in a referendum approved by Act of Parliament. I have been clear since the Referendum result was announced on the 23rd June this year that although I voted to Remain, I totally respect that the majority was for Leave, both in the country and here in Nuneaton.
The Government is determined to respect the result of the referendum and has no intention of letting this change its timetable for triggering Article 50.
My view is that Parliament's role is now to work together to implement the best possible outcome to deliver the Leave vote made by the British people on the 23rd June.
