Commenting on the event, Marcus said: “I was very proud to represent the Government at the Queen’s Baton Relay. Leicester put on a fantastic show and attracted a good crowd. We’re a passionate sporting nation and the Queen’s Baton Relay provides the chance for us to travel across the country, engaging with local communities, building excitement for the Games and gathering support for Team England in the process.
“It’s not only the Games that have the power to ignite that spark within our future sporting generation, the Queen’s Relay directly involves and inspires young people, many of whom I had the good fortune to meet.
“I know that the Games in Glasgow will be a great success and the UK Government is committed to offering any help it can to deliver a successful Games.”
