Nuneaton MP, Marcus Jones, has given his backing to a Scam Mail campaign in an effort to raise awareness of the problem and help to protect vulnerable people in the town.
The campaign is led by Conservative MP Heather Wheeler, who represents South Derbyshire.
Marcus is urging local people to deliver any scam letters or mailings they receive to his constituency office, which he will then take to Parliament to form part of the campaign.
Commenting, Marcus said: “This is campaign is a very important way to get the message across that scammers will go to any lengths to fleece vulnerable people out of their hard earned money. Some of the letters sent can be look genuine and of very high quality so I am urging people to firstly be careful, and second, to drop off any scam letters or mailings they receive to my constituency office. We will have a box for such items and I will take them all to Parliament to hand them to my colleague, Heather Wheeler, as part of this campaign.”
Letters can be delivered to 13 – 17 Hollybush House, Bond Gate, Nuneaton, CV11 4AR until the end of December 2013.
