During a visit to North Warwickshire & Hinckley College, Marcus Jones MP met with two College apprentices who told him about their experiences combining earning with learning. Luke Hornsby, age 25, is on a Business Administration apprenticeship and Alex Bruce, age 18, is on a Sport and Fitness apprenticeship. Both apprenticeship programmes last two years and see the apprentices work towards nationally recognised qualifications and gain hands on work experience at the College.
"Getting this apprenticeship has been a fantastic opportunity for me to gain the work experience that I require and to obtain more qualifications and skills which I can take forward into future employment” said Business Administration apprentice Luke.
Marcus Jones MP said: “It was a pleasure to meet Luke and Alex – they were shining examples of enthusiastic apprentices. From my discussion with them it’s obvious that they are gaining the skills and experience through the apprenticeship programme which will stand, Luke and Alex, the college, any future employers and UK PLC in great stead for the future. They also demonstrate the importance of the apprenticeship scheme which has seen a 56% increase in take up in Nuneaton over the last year, which is fantastic news”.
The College currently employs 17 apprentices and plans to recruit more apprentices in the future.
