Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has expressed his support for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to “Keep Trade Local”. The campaign is part of an effort to celebrate and build on partnerships that have been made with the local business community.
At an event organised by the FSB on Friday 17 July, Marcus joined representatives from local authorities and businesses to share best practice in how to effectively support small businesses.
Marcus also gave his commitment to Keep Trade Local by becoming an ambassador to the FSB campaign that highlights the importance of small shops, post offices and pubs to the local community.
Commenting on the event, Marcus said: “The event was an opportunity for me to show my support to the small business community in Nuneaton and, as a newly elected MP, to learn how I can best support them. Becoming an ambassador for their keep trade local campaign is an honour, and I pledge to do all I can to help businesses to thrive in Nuneaton.
“At a time when 2,000 shops are closing each year, and 4 pubs a day are being forced to shut, the timing could not be more paramount. Small businesses will be crucial to helping the UK into economic recovery, and I want people and businesses in Nuneaton to benefit from that.”
