Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has this week continued his campaign for safety measures to be introduced on at A5 at the Woodford Lane junction. Several deaths in recent years have prompted the local MP to call for measures to be put in place to prevent further loss of life at this perilous junction.
Marcus met with the Minister, Mike Penning MP, in Parliament discussed his concerns. The Minister was sympathetic to the concerns raised by the Nuneaton representative and following the meeting Mr Penning agreed to engage Department for Transport officials to look at ways in which safety measures could be used to avert the current danger that the Woodford Lane junction poses.
Speaking after the meeting, the Nuneaton MP said: “It was a positive meeting with the Minister. He knows the A5 well and was extremely sympathetic to the concerns that I raised over the safety of the junction. He has now agreed to look into what can be done which is a positive step forward.
"I know that this junction still continues to hold terrible danger and I will keep pursuing this matter over the coming months, but my discussion this week does give hope that the Minister is listening to the concerns of those in Nuneaton who have contacted me on this important issue.”
