Local MP Marcus Jones has welcomed Transport Minister, Stephen Hammond, to Nuneaton during a recent visit to the A5 with its junction at The Long Shoot.
The Minister visited Nuneaton in response to views expressed by Marcus following growing local concerns over safety issues at the junction.
Marcus has been asking local people to contact him with their experiences and has been feeding this information back to the Minister, prompting the Minister to visit the location.
Commenting, Marcus said: “Many local people will know that I have raised concerns before about the A5 and its junction with The Long Shoot. Since the changes were made to the junction I am convinced that safety issues have been created and this is the feedback that many local people are giving me.
“I am delighted that Stephen has taken such a keen interest in the safety issues raised on behalf of my constituents and took time out of his busy schedule to meet me at The Long Shoot junction.
“Stephen listened to the concerns that I raised and has agreed to ask his officials to consider this matter with some urgency.”
