Marcus Jones, MP for Nuneaton, has welcomed the latest OFSTED school ratings for Nuneaton that show significant improvement since 2011.

“In September 2011 70% of pupils were in good or outstanding schools and 74% of schools were rated good or outstanding. The latest ratings showed as of June 30 2017, 77% of pupils were in good or outstanding schools and 84% of schools were rated good or outstanding.

“This improvement is a testament to the hard-work of teachers, other school staff and the pupils themselves.

“Of course, there is more to do and this week I met with the Schools Minister, Lord Nash, to discuss how we can ensure that every child attends a school rated good or outstanding, wherever they live.

“I am also encouraged that the Secretary of State for Education has confirmed that our schools will see a budget increase in per-pupil funding as a result of the new national funding formula. The Queen's Speech set out that ensuring every child has the opportunity to attend a good school, and that all schools are fairly funded, remains a priority and I want to make sure that is the case wherever people live in Nuneaton, Arley and Hartshill.

“A good education is the bedrock on which our young people will build their lives. These figures show that more and more of Nuneaton’s pupils are getting the best possible start.”
