MP welcomes Environment Agency response to Cleaver Gardens and urges residents to sign up for EA flood risk updates.

Local MP Marcus Jones today welcomed the positive response from the Environment Agency to concerns that Marcus has raised about flooding at Cleaver Gardens.

The EA Flood Risk Manager for the Midlands area recently confirmed that they have engaged consultants to model options for measures to bring flood reduction to both the Cleaver Gardens area and Nuneaton Town Centre. The consultants should have completed their work by late summer, which will enable the EA to prepare an outline business case by December.

Talking about the meeting and subsequent correspondence Marcus said:

“For some years we have seen flooding at Cleaver Gardens and at times in other areas too.  Luckily these have been isolated incidents which have not caused loss of life, but for those affected it has been an unpleasant experience.

“I hope the work being done by the EA will lead to a suitable and substantive solution.”

Marcus is also urging people who live in areas that can potentially be affected by flooding from our local streams and rivers to sign up to the EA’s flood alert warning system, which provides early warnings and advice to those who could be affected.
