Following the successful Jobs Fair held at the Civic Hall in Bedworth last year, Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones and North Warwickshire and Bedworth MP, Dan Byles, were delighted with the response to their 2013 Jobs Fair held at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College’s Hinckley Road Campus.
The event was attended by over 30 businesses and local organisations and over 1,000 jobs were on offer to the hundreds of job seekers who attended.
The MPs, who attended the event for the whole day themselves, were enthused by the positive feedback that they received from both job seekers and employers. The pair were also delighted with the opportunity that the event gave for networking between the various businesses and other organisations present.
Marcus and Dan were both quick to give praise to the management and staff of North Warwickshire and Hinckley College who worked tirelessly to facilitate the event at their Hinckley Road site.
Commenting, Marcus said: “This was once again an excellent event which shows just what can be done when businesses and public sector organisations who care about our area are brought together to support people looking for work. I was delighted with the response from the employers and was astounded at the numbers of job vacancies and opportunities that were available. The optimism on the day clearly demonstrated that our economy has turned a corner.
“I’m not sure how many people will get jobs from the Jobs Fair although from the positive feedback a large number of people could get into work as a result of the event.”
Adding, North Warwickshire and Bedworth MP Dan Byles, said: "I am delighted that this year’s Jobs Fair was as successful as last years, which more real jobs and apprenticeships available. Jobs Fairs are an effective way to bring local jobseekers together with employers, and the feedback we had on the day from both was extremely positive. I would like to thank North Warwickshire & Hinckley College for their support and for hosting the event. The Jobs Fairs have been such a success that we have decided to make this an annual event, alternating between Nuneaton and Bedworth. Next year we will be back in Bedworth Civic Hall."
