Nuneaton’s MP Marcus Jones has welcomed tax cuts that will help millions of people throughout the country and stands to benefit thousands of hardworking families in Nuneaton.
The rise in the personal allowance, announced in last year’s budget, comes into effect this April, and so thousands of local people will have a tax cut.
The Chancellor, George Osborne MP, has cut income tax for 24 million people, over 26,000 families in Nuneaton benefiting, while a staggering 2.2 million low income families have been taken out of paying income tax altogether, with over 3,000 families in Nuneaton standing to benefit. In addition, most basic rate taxpayers will be £593 better off this year as a result.
Commenting, Marcus said: “These changes to the tax allowances means that many hardworking local people are going to be better off and the lowest income families will be taken out of paying income tax altogether. This shows that the Conservatives are on the side of hardworking people who want to get on.
“In addition to the tax changes, measures like cancelling Labour's planned fuel duty increase, so petrol is 13p per litre cheaper than if Labour had been in office, has helped people with the cost of living. This is real, practical support for local people after years of rising fuel duty under the last Labour Government.”
