Marcus Jones, Nuneaton’s MP, has been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS), to the new Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Sajid Javid MP, following the resignation of Maria Miller.
The role of the PPS, a Ministerial aide, helps the government to track backbench opinion in Parliament and working closely with the Cabinet Minister.
Marcus’ appointment comes after Mr Javid was promoted from his position as Financial Secretary to the Treasury by the Prime Minister. Mr Javid’s decision to take the Nuneaton MP with him to his new role has been endorsed by Prime Minister, David Cameron.
Commenting on his new role, Marcus said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Sajid in his role at the Treasury and I am delighted to have been asked to be Sajid’s PPS in his new role at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
“My overriding focus remains on representing the people of Nuneaton and I will continue to work hard for local people in addition to my responsibilities in the House of Commons.”
