Local MP Marcus Jones has welcomed figures showing that recorded crime has reduced by 11% in Warwickshire since the last General Election. Crime has also fallen by 2.8% in the Nuneaton area in the last year alone.
Yesterday, Marcus took the opportunity to praise the hardworking officers of Warwickshire Police for playing their part in reducing crime.
Marcus’ comments were supported by the Policing Minister, Damien Green, who praised the Warwickshire force for their collaboration with West Mercia Police, which had reduced costs and allowed more time to be spent detecting and cutting crime.
Nuneaton’s voice in Parliament said: “It is great news that crime has fallen so dramatically in our area and great credit must go to Warwickshire Police and their hardworking officers and PCSO’s who have helped to achieve that. However, there is no room for complacency and it’s important that we continue to strive to cut crime which can cause such distress to victims and local communities.”
