Nuneaton’s MP Marcus Jones has thanked people in Nuneaton who attended a recent drop in session to have their say about local train services that took place on 16 September.
The Town’s MP has been a strong advocate for better rail services in Nuneaton since his election to Parliament and organised the drop in session with the support of Network Rail, Virgin Trains and London Midland.
The event took place in the Community Room at ASDA Nuneaton and was well attended by local rail users. Issues discussed with train operators included fast late night services to Nuneaton, improvements at Nuneaton railway station and overcrowding on some London Midland services. London Midland have pledged to conduct a feasibility study into improvements at the railway station, and Network Rail undertook to assess how better access to the station can be provided.
Commenting on the session, Marcus said: “This was an extremely important opportunity for people to have their say on local rail services with the companies directly involved. I am very grateful to Network Rail, Virgin Trains and London Midland for agreeing to take part in this event, as well as ASDA for allowing us to use their Community Room.
“The feedback received following the event was very positive and the discussions were constructive and varied. This event was about opening a dialogue between our train operators and customers who rely on the railway every day. A huge variety of issues were discussed and I want to thank all those who came along and provided valuable feedback to the train operators and Network Rail.”
